Losing a loved one yourself is the only sorrow which could be greater than listening to the weeping and mourning of a true friend because of their lose of a loved one and being unable to hold them in your arms.

Heather – I’m so sorry to hear about your friend’s brother! And yes, it is hard not to be physically present when someone you care for so deeply is in so much pain!! I’ll be praying for you and your friend’s family.
