Two Incredible Saints

The other night I was incredibly blessed by a visit with a Chinese and Burmese man. These two young men came over to Stephen and Rachel’s place to cook a Chinese feast. Not only did we have great food, I also had the opportunity to speak in Chinese with them! But it was not the food nor the language we spoke which blessed me the most. It was our 2.5 hour conversation about their faith. These two young men have two awesome testimonies. About the first man: While in China, this man encountered many who told him about God and their relationship with Him. Now, mind you, this was in a secular country. He thought, “What’s with all these people and Jesus?” He thought they were all crazy! He couldn’t comprehend why they were so passionate about God, so he decided to find out for himself and he enrolled in a Chinese seminary. Only after his education at the seminary, reading the bible and learning about the person of Jesus, did he become a believer. It seems to me that Christians usually attend seminary to learn more about theology and such, but curiosity drove this atheist to enroll. He has now been studying at the ACA for 3 years and will graduate at the end of this year. After graduation, he desires to return to China and do full-time ministry.

Second, the testimony from the Burmese man. This man comes from a very well-to-do family in Burma. He very recently became a believer. Many of his family members are Buddhist and are adamantly against Christianity, so much so that he had to flee the country in order that his life might be spared. The first man described above, helped him to come to India. He had no money and so his mom was secretly sending him support, but when his father found out she had to cut off all support immediately. This man told me “Even though I had nothing, now I have everything because I have Christ.” Now, he hopes to be accepted into a small bible college so that he can learn more about Christianity. He also wants to improve his English so that he can study at the ACA. This young man is a brand-new believer and knows very little about the gospel, yet he has a burning desire that his whole family be saved. He asked God that if He were to grant only one desire that it be that his whole extended family be saved. Since leaving Burma, his mother has also become a believer. Praise God for the first two believers in this family! Please pray for him with me. He only has a few friends here which he struggles to communicate with, many of his family members hate him and he is probably living on little to nothing. Please pray for both men to persevere in the faith and for God’s direction in their lives.
